Food is safe in the world. At present, it is the key period of autumn grain harvest. After continuous rainy weather, how can we reduce the grain loss and make the autumn grain harvest in hand? What are the countermeasures for Hubei? Under the dual influence of epidemic and flood this year, how can Hubei agricultural and rural areas achieve high-quality development?
Keep rice on the ground and minimize losses
During the autumn harvest, in a shrimp paddy field in Laojianghe Village, Chiba Town, Jianli City, Jingzhou, Zhou Dayuan, an agricultural mechanic, was driving a harvester to grab rice. The continuous overcast and rainy weather in the early stage caused the rice in the field to collapse. The old hand with more than 20 years of harvest experience met with difficulties. "This year there have been quite a lot of collapses, rice planthoppers and wind and rain," said Zhou Dayuan.
The comprehensive loss rate in the five links of cutting, bundling, transporting, milling and storing of rice harvested manually reached 10%. In order to further reduce the loss of mechanized harvest of grain, the agricultural and rural departments of Hubei Province invited scientific research institutions and experts at the front line of agricultural production to go deep into the field to explain the mechanized loss reduction harvest technology to agricultural machinists and farmers. In the paddy field, Zhang Guozhong, a professor at the Engineering College of Huazhong Agricultural University, demonstrated to Lao Zhou.
The quality of rice is improved by living in the "sauna room"
After filling a truck with 6000 kg of wet rice, the tractor driver Du Guangshan wants to send them to the baking workshop of Shanghe Agricultural Professional Cooperative Association in Jianli City, two kilometers away, for drying. Du Guangshan said, "It was unsafe to put the rice on the road to dry after harvesting it, and then the coming and going cars crushed the rice. Now with this dryer, I will send it here."
Like Du Guangshan, many grain farmers in Jianli now send the newly harvested rice directly to grain processing enterprises or cooperatives, and the loss can be minimized if the rice does not land.
In the drying workshop of Jianli Shanghe Agricultural Professional Cooperative Association, 11 large dryers are drying wet rice at full power. Ouyang Bin, the president of the Association, told reporters that in the rainy days in the early days, farmers had no place to dry their grain, and the drying equipment of the cooperative could not be stopped
This year, Jianli has organized and developed more than 80 specialized farmers' cooperatives with the ability to dry and process grain. Shanghe is one of the largest. President Ouyang Bin said, "As long as farmers' grain comes, we can dry it. We buy farmers' wet rice at a price of between 1.1 yuan and 1.15 yuan per kilogram, and then sell it to Central Storage Grain after drying. In this way, farmers have no loss in growing grain, which is higher than selling grain. Without drying plants, farmers have a great loss."
